The Problem
Legacy airport kiosks were causing significant passenger bottlenecks during check-in and baggage drop-off, while manual boarding pass validation was highly vulnerable to fraud at critical terminal checkpoints.
The Architecture
Collaborating with operations teams, we redesigned the airport kiosk and administrative dashboard UIs utilizing React, Redux, and Angular to optimize user flows. To harden security, we engineered a multi-threaded Windows background service (C#, .NET, and Java) to cryptographically validate PDF-417 barcode scans in real time.
The Constraints
High-traffic, global transit environments requiring absolute real-time processing, multi-threading for concurrent scans, and zero tolerance for latency during passenger onboarding.
The Outcome
The multi-threaded validation service successfully slashed fraudulent boarding attempts by 80% across all integrated terminal checkpoints, while the modernized UIs reduced average passenger transaction latency by 15%, vastly streamlining real-time terminal operations.
