REST APIs Designed for Validator Monitoring

The Problem

Fidelity was launching a suite of crypto funds—FBTC (~$22B AUM), FETH, and FSOL—and required real-time custody and staking reporting across multiple enterprise custodians. No internal system existed to build from, and there was no market equivalent to reference at launch.

The Architecture

Leading the FFIO squad from concept to production, we architected and shipped a greenfield cloud-native platform in just five months. We engineered 150+ Java 21 / Spring Boot REST APIs to handle validator monitoring, epoch reward calculations, and BTC/ETH/SOL cross-custodian reconciliation. This was backed by an Angular dashboard and an event-driven AWS architecture utilizing Lambda, partition-key-optimized DynamoDB, and S3 + Parquet for high-throughput data processing.

The Constraints

Reconciling three highly distinct custodians—BitGo, Anchorage Digital, and Coinbase Custody—each with its own API shape and data model, on a rigid five-month clock, with zero existing internal patterns to build from.

The Outcome

Successfully secured $14B+ in digital assets across custodians, resolving every data discrepancy before it reached the ledger of record. Sustained 100+ BTC and 10,000+ ETH in monthly transaction volume at sub-second query latency for fund operations, audit, and compliance reviewers.
